Water resources are a key part of potable water supply and the beginning of the urban water cycle. And protecting and safeguarding water resources in light of climate changes is a challenge involving the wider region. The innovative solutions of these challenges are also supported by the EU, which develops approaches for preserving and protecting potable water resources through various projects.

Water circulating in the water circuit of urban environments is part of our everyday life, starting with the abstraction of water from the environment for our basic needs of potable water supply, all the way to the drainage and treatment of waste water that is returned back to the environment. For this reason, water is the most controlled resource of the urban environment and requires additional consideration in terms of controlling the information (cybernetic) safety when ensuring sustainable water management.

Certified water sommelier Hanuel Kim from South Korea will present the technical aspects of water, followed by a guided tasting of nine samples of spring water as well as water from bodies of water of Slovenia. Slovenia has high-quality potable water, the question however remains: are we able to tell the difference between different sources of water? Water tastings will be carried out in cooperation with the Municipality of Kamnik and the Kamnik Caving Club.
2467 km – Travelling to the Black Sea: 2467 km, 63 days, 360 hours on a SUP and 600,000 paddle strokes for spreading awareness about the increasing pollution of water and rivers around the world. Pascal Rösler paddled down the Isar and Danube rivers from Munich to the Black Sea in Romania. The feat was recorded on film by his two colleagues and together they made a film.
The screening of the film will be followed by a discussion with Pascal Rösler.
Last year’s BWF award-winner Ericsson Nikola Tesla from Croatia, in association with the Croatian National Institute of Public Health, started setting up a web platform about how the quality of the environment (in this case water) impacts the health of people both in terms of quality and safety of potable water in public water supply systems or smaller water distribution systems (wells, private sources, etc.) that are not under constant control of the public health system and other supervisory authorities as well as in terms of the quality of water in protected natural areas visited by people for recreation, etc. (national parks, parks and similar).
