Awards

Purpose

We seek new trends in understanding water and sustainably-oriented solutions that capture the entire water cycle, preserve water environment and improve quality in every field of life.

We would like to encourage and award innovative approaches, ideas in several areas, and films, and thus increase the awareness of people about the importance of water that is the life energy for all living beings.

Objective

We would like to award the most original ideas, projects, and films (with ecological topic), and share good practices with politics, experts, economy and general public for a faster and better development of civilization. With the Most Tasteful Water award we would like to expose the importance of water quality in our country.

The participation in the award competition provides the platform of innovative solutions that can be connected with business people, experts, government organizations and investors.

Water resources present life energy for all living beings and a necessary medium for the society. Water footprint becomes more and more important part of a successful business sector and industry, that is environmentally sustainable. Industries and companies are not water consumers only, but also a source and hatchery of new environmental technologies for water supply, reuse, cleaning and other solutions. Although companies are very innovative and use good practices in the field of environment, often this is not used enough. The solutions that improve their attitude towards water resources, water environment and water use are important part of the new industrial revolution in the time when water has become the most important strategic raw material.

Who can participate?

Everyone can apply who contributes in any way to a rational use of drinking water and its improvement, takes care of cleaning and reuse of waste water and decreases water footprint, and especially those who enable new technological innovations for reaching goals of sustainable development in the field of water.

RESPONSIBLE TOWARDS WATER:
National Award
The award was granted to the Horticultural society Maribor for the project Risk for drought in the Danube Region.

It is an innovative approach to connecting users of water resources and competent state institutions and international organizations to reduce landfills in river basins at the local, state and cross-border levels. This is a very concrete measure of adaptation to climate change that is important for all food producers and other users of water resources. But the best of it is, that we do not need new funds, legislation or new institutions to implement this measure.

The award was granted to Jure Pirc for the project Cryptowater.si – Water on Blockchain.

The project enables a more precise identification of the geographical location of the water source and the quality of this at different hydrological situations. The approach is promising as it builds on the existing standardized labelling approaches adding information of a more precise location of the water source and its quality to users. This is important for the effective control of the water source and responsible behavior in the river basin.
